FAQ’S

PRINTING

Digital prints are printed from an Epson Pro 4800 printer using Epson Ultra Chrome K3 inks which are said to be good for a hundred years and more. Digital prints are normally printed on Premier Semi-Gloss or Premier Gloss paper. The majority of digital black & white are printed on INNOVA  Fibaprint Ultra Smooth fine art paper.

Darkroom prints are normally printed on Kentmere FB or RC papers but the specification can change from print to print. If you need to know please contact us.

All printing is carried out in house and all prints are sent unmounted within a roll ready for mounting by others. The costs of the print includes postage within the UK.

PRINT MOUNTING AND FRAMING

Mounting and framing can be carried out to suit any requirements using any of the mouldings from Ashworth and Thompson website http://www.ashworthandthompson.co.uk/content.php .
We can use mouldings from other manufacturers if required but this range is quite extensive and the quality is extremely good.

Depending on the moulding and the mounting of the images the average extra over cost to frame each print would be in the region of £85.00.

Unless stated all images would be mounted on Archival quality or PH neutral board together with double bevel edged window to the front. White or off-white board would be used depending on the image.

We would normally use a simple 40mm (1½") wide, square edged black frame glazed with non-reflective glass and complete with all necessary fixings. The average overall size of the frame would be approximately 600mm x 500mm (24" X 20").

EQUIPMENT

It is a fact, that it is not the equipment that the photographer uses, but how the photographer uses the equipment available to him or her. There is nothing more basic than “Pin Hole Photography” and yet this simple medium can and does produce some fantastic and creative images.

It does not seem that long ago when the professional press photographers were using Canon A1’s or Nikon F1’s which by today’s standards are very basic 35mm film cameras. However the photographic archives are full of great images from bygone times when equipment was basic, but the photographers used their skills to the full, in order to capture their images.

This list is produced only for reference and is not a shopping list of must haves, to produce half decent pictures. Yes there are times when having the right lens for the job will enable you to capture your picture to its full potential. However you do not require every upgrade or lens that Canon, Nikon, or others manufacturers appear to produce at an alarming rate.
